Kiosk Technology Firms team up to showcase the industry's first "Intelligent" Remote Access Power Hub for Kiosks and Managed Device Networks
September 21, 2006 -- Enhance Electronics, Spin Networks, and CeroView have teamed up to demonstrate the first "Intelligent" Remote Access Power Hub for Kiosks and Managed Device Networks. This new technology will enable those deploying kiosks, ATMs, and any other independent devices to remotely monitor connected peripherals and power-related issues in a real-time environment. The goal is to increase kiosk/device uptime and eliminate most unnecessary service calls, leading to a significant increase in the ROI of any deployed managed network.
The three companies will demonstrate this exciting new technology at the upcoming Kiosk Show being held in San Antonio Sept 27th and 28th. Demonstrations will take place at Booth # 603.
The integrated solution features Enhance Electronics Remote Access Power Hub, (RAP), which utilizes a network access line (or any available internet connection) to remotely control the A/C input power to a Kiosk, ATM or any other multi-function device that have unique power requirements. As an example, the Enhance RAP could be utilized, without the need for intervention of an on-site technician or engineer, when a multi-function device needs to be booted remotely to restore functionality for remote diagnostics, system restart or other power cycling events.
The Enhance RAP is also designed to manage a multiple number of devices without the need for costly power adapters, by delivering 12 VDC and 24 VDC for devices, including but not limited to, ticketing receipt printers, motorized card readers, coin dispensers, currency acceptors, biometric readers and other 12/24 VDC using devices.
Using Spin Networks' nokLINK, operators can securely log in from any web-based PC or Workstation and manage their entire network of devices, including power supplies and any other associated peripheral component. nokLINK, Spin Networks communication protocol, has the ability to enable secure, 2-way communication to any device, on any network, behind any firewall.
The Enhance RAP also eliminates the need to dispatch service technicians to perform power on reset - power resets can be done remotely using nokLINK through the use of remote dial-up, Ethernet and 3G Mobile connections. In combination these products reduce 99% of service calls.
Paul Marcotte, VP of Business Development for Enhance comments: " The Integration of our RAP product, coupled with nokLINK, SNI's secure communication protocol, creates the ultimate Power and Remote Management platform for peripheral devices on the market today. One single connection can now ensure secure communication and complete reporting of status to all of these devices. Companies can now increase uptime and performance, which is essential to delivering a desired level of ROI."
Self-service kiosk systems and networks are growing in popularity and are integrated into customer facing applications essential for business growth. "CeroView understands how essential it is for clients to know how their kiosk network is performing. The combination of the Enhance RAP product with nokLink really provides the 'one-two punch' needed to ensure systems are up and running." Stated Derek Fretheim, President of CeroView. CeroView announced earlier this year it created a network operations center (NOC) clients can utilize in managing their self-service networks. "CeroView is the only kiosk manufacturer that offers this service."

Enhance Electronics launches new 80% PLUS Efficient Power Supplies for Kiosks
May 9, 2006 -- Enhance Electronics of Cerritos, Calif., a leading designer and manufacturer of kiosk power solutions, released nine unique power supplies specifically for kiosks.
These products come in all ranges within the ATX, SFX, TFX, TFX 1U and EPS 1U form factors.
The unique aspect of these products is they are fully RoHS compliant, Energy Star compliant, within 3% cross regulation, less than 25 dba noise and certified 80% plus efficient by 80 PLUS.
Due to significantly reduced heat output, these kiosk-specific power supplies increase kiosk reliability by up to 40%, reducing costly repairs and lost revenue due to kiosk downtime.
Why does heat pose problems for Kiosk performance?
Heat is one of the leading causes of semiconductor failure, with semiconductor junction failure rates doubling for every 10 degrees Celsius rise in temperature. For this reason, power supplies with excess heat output are less reliable themselves and will lower the reliability (MTBF) of the entire Kiosk.
In fact, estimates by Power Electronics Strategies show that the improved power quality and lower operating temperatures of Enhances' 80 PLUS qualified power supplies can increase reliability by up to 40% over conventional, non-power factor corrected power supplies. Considering that combined costs associated with service calls, repairs and lost productivity can exceed $150 per incident, 80 PLUS qualified power supplies offer the Kiosk Marketplace a way to prevent unwanted and costly downtime.
Additionally, the efficiency and power factor correction of Enhances' 80 PLUS qualified power supplies further improves Kiosk reliability by reducing current stresses on electronic components. A typical Enhance 80 PLUS Qualified power supply draws roughly 13% less current than conventional lower efficiency, non-power factor corrected power supplies, minimizing stress on sensitive electronics within the Kiosk.
In summary, the efficiency and reliability of Enhances' 80 PLUS Qualified power supplies can help Kiosk OEMs, Deployers, System Integrators and Resellers:
- Reduce warranty costs
- Reduce service calls
- Market Kiosks with a significantly lower total cost of ownership.

A New Trend and Impact for Power Supplies products.
August 15, 2004 -- In the wake of the emergence of global environmental awareness and the implementation of the European Union environmental policy, the demand for and attention on energy-saving products rapidly increased. While Green Products (GP) had become the latest trend.
On January 27th, 2003, the European Union issued the RoHS (Restriction of the use of Certain Hazardous Substances) 2002/96/EC Directive, therewith outlining regulations for the use of heavy metals such as:
1. Lead (Pb) |
